Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

 

Strawberry and banana is one of the most popular smoothie combos out there – and it’s pretty easy to see why, the two fruits are a perfect complement to one another.

Strawberries are one of our favourite fruits – can’t wait for strawberry season every year. All berries are good to excellent sources of vitamin C, and their blue and red pigments hold powerful antioxidants that can neutralise bad bacteria and fight off cancer.

Bananas are also excellent nutritionally and are high in fiber, folate and vitamin C. On top of that they are also rich in potassium.

Recipe Take One – What you need:

• 2 bananas peeled
• 1 ½ cups of strawberries
• 1 cup low fat milk – dairy or nut milk
• 1 cup low fat plain yogurt
• A few cubes of ice

Serves two

Make this smoothie:

1. Put the milk and yoghurt into your blender first, followed by the fruit and ice.
2. Blend for 30 seconds to a minute – depending on the power of your blender – until smooth. Remember to start at a slow speed, to get things moving, before slowly moving up to full speed. Of course if you have pre-programmed smoothie cycle on your blender use that instead.
3. Pour and enjoy straight away.

Recipe Take Two – What you need:

• 2 frozen bananas
• 1 cup of strawberries
• ¼ cup of raspberries
• 1 cup of coconut milk
• 1 cup of coconut water
• A pinch of nutmeg

Serves two

Make this smoothie:

1. Add the milk and water into your blender first, followed by the fruit, nutmeg and ice.
2. Follow steps 2 and 3 as above.

Tips:

When picking strawberries make sure they’re not soft and overripe. Always check the base of the punnet for mould or moisture.
